Introduction

About Suzanne Choo

 

​Suzanne Choo is Associate Professor at the English Language and Literature department and Head (Research) at the Singapore Centre for Character and Citizenship Education at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is also lead editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Education.

 

This website was created as a platform to share her on going research and current projects.

Her research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals such as Harvard Educational Review,  Reading Research Quarterly, Journal of Moral Education, British Journal of Educational Studies, Critical Studies in Education, Research in the Teaching of English, Journal of Curriculum Studies among others. She has written numerous books on literary analysis that are used widely in Singapore schools.

Her book is Reading the world, the globe, and the cosmos: Approaches to teaching literature for the twenty-first century was awarded the Critics Choice Book Award by the American Educational Studies Association.

​

She is interested in issues related to education for global and cosmopolitan citizenship particularly in relation to ethics and literature education. Other interests include the disciplinary history of literature in English; theorizations of literature pedagogy; ethics and ethical criticism; and Eastern philosophy.
